Welcome to US History!
Ms. Cash's eleventh grade US History course, rather than taking a chronological approach to history, focuses on major thematic developments in America's past. The course is broken down into four units of study: American Capitalism, WWII as a Pathway to Equality, Democracy in the Cold War Era, and America at War (mock trial).
This a rigorous course that will call on students to not memorize history, but to instead interact with it. Through reading primary and secondary sources, students will have the opportunity to not only determine the details of major events and movements but also to understand how historians have interpreted them.
Utilizing the creative energies of SCPA students, Ms. Cash's US History course will provide students numerous opportunities to approach history through an artistic lens.
